PhD Position in Philosophy of Mind & Philosophy of Cognitive Science
Department of Humanities and Arts, Technion—Israel Institute of Technology
The Research Group in Philosophy of Mind and of Cognitive Science at the Technion invites applications for a full-time, fully funded PhD position under the supervision of Dr. Assaf Weksler.
We especially welcome projects that bridge the metaphysics or epistemology of mind (particularly perception) with the empirical sciences of mind. Proposals in more “traditional” philosophy of mind or philosophy of cognitive science are also encouraged. The main selection criteria are research excellence and fit with the group’s agenda.
Eligibility:
- MA (with thesis) in philosophy of mind, or philosophy of cognitive science, grade 85+.
- Applicants with an MA in cognitive science (e.g., cognitive psychology, social psychology, cognitive neuroscience, computer science) who wish to transition to philosophy of mind or philosophy of cognitive science are encouraged to apply (grade 85+).
- Dual supervision with a Technion cognitive-science lab is possible.
Please email inquiries or expressions of interest to Dr. Assaf Weksler at assafw@technion.ac.il before applying.
The application itself should include:
- CV
- Brief research statement (1–2 pages)
- BA (or BSc) and MA transcripts
- A writing sample (e.g., a chapter of the Master’s thesis, a conference paper, or a published paper)
- Two recommendation letters should be submitted to Anat Glass (anatg@technion.ac.il), one of them from the MA supervisor.
- For international students, details regarding GRE exemption are available here.
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled.
