English Academic Coordinator Graduate  Degrees |  Dr. Michal Tal
Administrative Coordinator – Mrs. Shlomit Ben Ish

A Technion graduate student must demonstrate good knowledge of English.

A student who was required to and did not pass the Advanced English Proficiency Examination during the first semester of their studies, that is, at a level that enables written expression, will be required to attend regular studies at the Technion in the appropriate course, and pass the examination at the end of the second semester. The status of a student who does not pass the examination on the above-mentioned date will become “Unsatisfactory” and the student will have the opportunity to repeat the exam at the term of the next examination. Should the student fail again, his studies will be discontinued.

Upon the student’s admission, the Dean may extend the terms set for fulfilling these requirements.

Starting the Winter 2022-23 semester, graduate students are entitled to 2 credits upon completing the English requirement.

There are three ways for completing this requirement:

Passing the English Proficiency Exam (328013 – exam only track) – for students in their first semester of studies

Completing both the course and the exam at a passing grade (328013 – course and exam track) – for students in their second or later semester of studies, or those who have failed the exam.

Completing the course Enrichment in English for Graduates (328014) and passing the course exam – for students in a research track only.

328014 – Enrichment in English for Graduate Students

The course is aimed at students in the research track (with thesis) only.

The course aims to develop advanced receptive and productive skills essential for English academic communication. Reading and analyzing academic texts, enriching vocabulary and practicing grammatical structures are complemented by watching and discussing videos. Following the learning phase of each of 6-course modules, the students will express their opinion, develop and compare arguments, making use of the acquired skills.
