    Research interests: early modern philosophy, philosophy and history of biology, mind-body relations.

    Recent books: Living Mirrors: Infinity, Unity, and Life in Leibniz’s Philosophy (Oxford University Press, 2019); The Psychophysical Lab: Yoga Practice and the Mind-Body Problem, Mudita Books, 2019 (with Eyal Shifroni, translated into Chinese, Spanish, and Italian).

    Dr. Tzipora Rakedzon
    Associate Head of the Department

    Senior Teaching Fellow 

    Tzipora Rakedzon serves as the Associate Head of the Department of Humanities and Arts at the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology. She is also the academic head and a lecturer of Graduate Academic Writing in the department and the director of the English Program at the Guangdong Technion Israel Institute of Technology in China.

    Tzipora received her PhD at the Technion in science communication at the Department of Education in Technology and Science, and her BA and MA in linguistics from Haifa University. Her research interests include teaching pedagogies and assessment of scientific and professional communication, especially writing and vocabulary. One of her projects, the De-jargonizer, has been published in PLOSone and featured in Nature and in over 40 news sites in 8 languages around the world.

    Dr. Dustin Lazarovici

    Dustin Lazarovici is Assistant Professor for Philosophy of Science and Philosophy of Physics at the Department of Humanities and Arts of the Technion and a Fellow at the John Bell Institute for the Foundations of Physics. He studied physics and mathematics at the University of Munich and holds a Ph.D. in mathematics from the University of Munich (LMU) and a Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of Lausanne (UNIL).

    ד”ר אביטל בינה-פולק היא חברת סגל בדרגת עמית הוראה בכיר. אנתרופולוגית חברתית-תרבותית עם דגש על חינוך, הגירה וניידות בסין העכשוויות. המחקר הנוכחי שלה מתמקד בשלושה נושאים עיקריים: 1) מדיניות חינוכית בסין העכשווית 2) היבטים בין-תרבותיים שלחינוך ולמידה 3) גבולות, וניידות בסין ובהונג קונג ו-4) מקומם של מדעי הרוח והחברה בחינוך למדע והנדסה. היא מקדמת בברכה סטודנטים שרוצים לחקור נושאים אלה או קשורים.

    Dr. Michal Tal

    Dr. Michal Tal is a senior teaching associate in the Department of Humanities and Arts at the Technion–Israeli Institute of Technology. She holds a PhD (2016) in Hermeneutics and Culture Studies from Bar-Ilan University in Israel. Dr. Tal studies two different disciplines: (1) English teaching in higher education and technology in the service of language learning; and (2) Interdisciplinary analysis of literary themes, particularly those related to questions of identity, subjectivity and individuality.

    Her latest literary publications include “Language Adventures in the Japanese Corporation: A Lacanian Reading of Amélie Nothomb’s Fear and Trembling“ (2020) and “Double Agony: Is Literary Doubling a Cure for Suffering or Its Source?“ in The Psychoanalytic Review.(2019). Her recent publiation in the study of ELT is “Integrating international teleconferences into

    EGAP courses: Preparing students for real-life professional situations“ (2021, with Scott-Monkouse and Yelnevskaya).

    I received my Bachelor’s in English at the University of Haifa, and my MA and PhD from the University of Oklahoma (USA) in American Literature and Literary Theory. Currently, I teach English Advanced B and PhD science writing. In the classroom, I mix practically improving English skills with building professional and academic ones. I love technology in the classroom and love it best when it allows each student to express themselves.

    Brigitte Hahn-Michaeli Born in Frankfurt a.M., Germany. School education in Germany and England. 1980 2. Staatsexamen , Johann Wolfgang Goethe Universität, Frankfurt a.M., Germany. Language Teacher in Germany and Japan. Since 1991 teaching German as a foreign language at the Technion, Haifa. Coordinator of foreign languages at the department. Vice president of DVI, Association for German Language Teachers in Israel.

    Research Interest: Multilingualism in Israel.

    Mrs. Hava Margalit

    Hava Margalit is a senior teaching associate in the Department of Humanities and Arts at the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology. She is the Head of Physical Education at the Technion since 2015 and teaches various courses since 1983. She hold an M.A in Education from Loughborough University (UK), a B.A in Special Education from Haifa University (Israel), and B.Ed in Physical Education from Wingate Institute (Israel).

    As Head of Physical Education, Hava oversees the academic aspects of all physical education courses and sport teams at the Technion. In addition, she builds academic programs for groups that require unique adjustments, such as: Ultra-Orthodox students, individuals with special needs and disabilities. Moreover, she built tailor-made academic programs for Technion’s International School as well as for Technion Campus in China. During COVID era, Hava created a system of remotely-taught physical education courses.

    Besides of initiating conferences and cross-Technion collaborations around the field of physical education, Hava is in direct touch with her MIT Physical Education counterpart, with whom she exchanges work methods and assuring that the Technion academic portfolio is up-to-date.

    Hava conducted a global benchmark research to monitor best-practices of physical education departments of top academic institutes in the world. The conclusions of this research were implemented in various Technion courses.

    Hava co-authors an article alongside Professor Orit Hazan, around the topic: Physical Education at the Technion during the Covid-19 Pandemic: A reflection of the Technion Organizational Culture
