    Dr. Tzipora Rakedzon
    Assistant Professor

    Tzipora Rakedzon serves as the Associate Head of the Department of Humanities and Arts at the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology. She is also the academic head and a lecturer of Graduate Academic Writing in the department and the director of the English Program at the Guangdong Technion Israel Institute of Technology in China.

    Tzipora received her PhD at the Technion in science communication at the Department of Education in Technology and Science, and her BA and MA in linguistics from Haifa University. Her research interests include teaching pedagogies and assessment of scientific and professional communication, especially writing and vocabulary. One of her projects, the De-jargonizer, has been published in PLOSone and featured in Nature and in over 40 news sites in 8 languages around the world.

    Assistant Professor

    Dustin Lazarovici is Assistant Professor at the Department of Humanities and Arts of the Technion and a Fellow at the John Bell Institute for the Foundations of Physics. He studied physics and mathematics at the University of Munich and holds a Ph.D. in mathematics from the University of Munich (LMU) and a Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of Lausanne (UNIL).

  • Dr. Enrico Piergiacomi
    Assistant Professor

    Enrico Piergiacomi is assistant professor in history of philosophy at the Technion | Israel Institute of Technology. He was recipient of the international grant The Reception of Lucretius and Roman Epicureanism from the Middle Ages to the Eighteenth century (2019-2020), research in residence at the Bogliasco Foundation of Genova (2021), fellow at Villa I Tatti | The Harvard Center for Italian Renaissance Studies (2021-2022) where he carried on the project The Pleasures of Piety. The History of a Neglected Religious Tradition, and postdoctoral fellow in the research group Religion and Urbanity: Reciprocal Formations at the Max-Weber-Kolleg of Trento (2022).

    He specializes in ancient/modern philosophical thought and its intersections with philosophy of science, medicine, psychology, theology, and ethics. His research interests include atomism; hedonism; medical theory; philosophical theology; scientific poetry; theory of performance. He has so far published two books: Storia delle antiche teologie atomiste (Sapienza University Press, Rome 2017), and Amicus Lucretius. Gassendi, il “De rerum natura” e l’edonismo cristiano (De Gruyter, Berlin-New York 2022).

    At present, he is working on the following four projects, listed in the order of priority and progress:

    • A small book on the Presocratic conception of the natural law and its impact in rhetoric, psychology, and ethics;
    • A project on the medical-scientific poem from antiquity to the early modern period, and possibly beyond, with the provisional title Contagious Poetics. Atomistic Poetics of Etiology and Therapy. One of the outputs of this research will be the first-ever English monograph on the poet, philosopher and physician Girolamo Fracastoro (1476-1553);
    • The project The Pleasures of Piety. The History of a Neglected Religious Tradition, started at I Tatti, which reconstructs the theological-scientific views of the Renaissance / early modern Christian hedonists, such as Lorenzo Valla, Marsilio Ficino, Erasmus of Rotterdam, Pierre Gassendi;
    • The dissemination project Theatresophy, started in 2014, which investigates the history of ancient philosophical interpretations of the performing arts.

    ד”ר אביטל בינה-פולק היא חברת סגל בדרגת עמית הוראה בכיר. אנתרופולוגית חברתית-תרבותית עם דגש על חינוך, הגירה וניידות בסין העכשוויות. המחקר הנוכחי שלה מתמקד בשלושה נושאים עיקריים: 1) מדיניות חינוכית בסין העכשווית 2) היבטים בין-תרבותיים שלחינוך ולמידה 3) גבולות, וניידות בסין ובהונג קונג ו-4) מקומם של מדעי הרוח והחברה בחינוך למדע והנדסה. היא מקדמת בברכה סטודנטים שרוצים לחקור נושאים אלה או קשורים.

    Dr. Michal Tal

    Dr. Michal Tal is a senior teaching associate in the Department of Humanities and Arts at the Technion–Israeli Institute of Technology. She holds a PhD (2016) in Hermeneutics and Culture Studies from Bar-Ilan University in Israel. Dr. Tal studies two different disciplines: (1) English teaching in higher education and technology in the service of language learning; and (2) Interdisciplinary analysis of literary themes, particularly those related to questions of identity, subjectivity and individuality.

    Her latest literary publications include “Language Adventures in the Japanese Corporation: A Lacanian Reading of Amélie Nothomb’s Fear and Trembling“ (2020) and “Double Agony: Is Literary Doubling a Cure for Suffering or Its Source?“ in The Psychoanalytic Review.(2019). Her recent publiation in the study of ELT is “Integrating international teleconferences into

    EGAP courses: Preparing students for real-life professional situations“ (2021, with Scott-Monkouse and Yelnevskaya).

Language Teacher in Germany and Japan. Since 1991 teaching German as a foreign language at the Technion, Haifa. Coordinator of foreign languages at the department. Vice president of DVI, Association for German Language Teachers in Israel.

    I received my Bachelor’s in English at the University of Haifa, and my MA and PhD from the University of Oklahoma (USA) in American Literature and Literary Theory. Currently, I teach English Advanced B and PhD science writing. In the classroom, I mix practically improving English skills with building professional and academic ones. I love technology in the classroom and love it best when it allows each student to express themselves.

    גב’ חוה מרגלית היא חברת סגל אקדמי ועמית הוראה בכיר במחלקה ללימודים הומניסטיים ואמנויות בטכניון. גב’ מרגלית ממונה על החינוך הגופני בטכניון מאז 2015, ומלמדת במוסד מאז 1983. בעלת תואר ראשון (B.Ed) בחינוך גופני ממכון וינגייט, תואר ראשון (B.A) בחינוך מיוחד מאוניברסיטת חיפה ותואר שני (M.A) בחינוך מאוניברסיטת Loughborough אשר באנגליה. במסגרת תפקידה, היא נושאת באחריות אקדמית על קורסי החינוך הגופני ונבחרות הטכניון, וכן בנתה תוכניות לימודים אשר דורשות התאמות ייחודיות בבית הטכניון: תכנית לסטודנטים חרדים ובינלאומיים, קורסים המותאמים לבעלי מוגבלויות, התאמת תכנים לקמפוס הטכניון בסין, וכן הקמת מערך קורסים מקוונים בתקופת הקורונה.
    מלבד כנסים ושיתופי פעולה פנים-טכניוניים שיזמה בתחום החינוך הגופני, חוה מצויה בתהליך מתמשך של למידת עמיתים מול מקבילתה באוניברסיטת MIT (בוסטון), לעדכון שוטף של שיטות עבודה ומפרט קורסים.
    חוה ממשיכה לעסוק במחקר ולהיות שותפה בפרסום מאמרים:
    – מחקר השוואתי בינלאומי בין מוסדות אקדמיים מובילים בעולם, לבחינה מעמיקה שלBest Practices בתחום החינוך הגופני, אשר תוצריו יושמו בקורסי ההסמכה בטכניון.
    – מחקר השוואתי בנושא Benchmark of Well-Being Programs in Academic Institutions על מנת ליישם בתוכניות לבית הטכניון.
