Artist in Residence - Apply 2026/7
Artist in Residence on Campus
The Technion – Israel Institute of Technology is pleased to announce the fifth annual Artist in Residence on Campus Program: Research, Teaching, and Creative Practice.
The program is administered by the Department of Humanities and Arts.
The program offers artists the opportunity to develop artistic and research-based projects across a broad range of disciplines, in collaboration with faculty members and students within the Technion’s research community. It supports practices that involve research, experimentation, and critical inquiry, while encouraging engagement with the humanities, sciences, technology, and engineering. Special consideration will be given to artists whose work fosters dialogue and collaboration at the intersections of art, science, and engineering, in close cooperation with Technion faculty and students.
Residency Period and Dates
The residency will last 12 months during the 2026–2027 academic year
(October 2026 – September 2027).
Funding
The program is generously supported by a grant from the late Mrs. Sonia Marschak. Financial support for the full residency period will be provided in the form of a stipend of approximately USD 17,500 (gross salary). The selected artist will be required to be present on the Technion campus at least two days per week, preferably more. Accommodation is not included in the program.
Workspace
The selected artist will be provided with an office on campus and will work in the department’s studio. The spacious studio, generously donated by the late Mrs. Sonia Marschak, is also used for painting workshops and weekly art classes. While additional workspace cannot be guaranteed, applicants who require such space should indicate this in their application; the Technion may be able to accommodate this need.
Commitments
As part of the residency, the artist will teach an undergraduate course in which students will engage in writing and artistic practice. Students’ work will be presented in various formats, including lectures, installations, events, and more.
The artist will actively engage with the Technion’s professional and cultural community, participate in lectures and social events, and develop research collaborations.
