Call for Student Job: Technical Assistant for Numerical Simulations in Quantum Mechanics Research
The workgroup Philosophy of Physics at the Humanities and Arts Department of the Technion is seeking a motivated technical assistant to perform numerical simulations as part of an ISF-funded research project on the foundations of quantum mechanics.
The project investigates the open problem of predicting the arrival times of quantum particles. As part of our research, we want to conduct numerical simulations of wave function propagation and the detection process.
We are looking for a Technion student (graduate or undergraduate) with strong programming skills, an interest in quantum mechanics research, and the ability to work independently.
Start date: flexible (as soon as possible)
Duration: 6-12 months
Weekly hours: flexible (8h – 21h) to accommodate class schedules and academic commitments
Required Qualifications:
- Proficiency in Python, MATLAB, and/or Mathematica
- Basic knowledge of quantum mechanics (Schrödinger equation)
- Ability to work independently
- Good English skills
Additional Qualifications are an advantage:
- Experience with numerical simulations in physics
- Experience in Linux and system administration
- Interest in interdisciplinary research and scientific inquiry
Please send your application, including a CV and a short motivation letter, to dustin@technion.ac.il
