Call for PhD applicants in Technology Ethics
Call for PhD applicants in Technology Ethics
We are seeking a highly qualified PhD candidate with a background in philosophy/STS to join the Technology Ethics workgroup supervised by Dr. Avigail Ferdman. Our research team pursues research in philosophy with a focus on the ethics of emerging technologies. The successful candidate will participate in the development of new approaches to integrating ethics, political philosophy, and moral theory into emerging technologies like AI, automation, generative models and algorithms. The candidate will use methods and conceptual frameworks from analytic philosophy (e.g. political philosophy), ethics, and responsible innovation studies (e.g. design for values) to investigate technology’s relationship with flourishing, meaningful human lives.
In this role, the candidate will also work closely with the Technion Embedded Ethics program. Technion Embedded Ethics is a collaborative program that embeds the teaching of ethics directly into the core undergraduate and graduate courses in computer science and engineering. Working in collaboration with computer science and engineering faculty, the candidate will be part of the Embedded Ethics team, and create curricular materials, course assignments, and teach ethics modules in computer science and engineering courses.
